DF Capital’s biggest ‘Mega Giveback’ event sees Bank staff volunteer 530 hours in a single afternoon

For the third year in a row, the entire team from DF Capital, the Manchester-based specialist bank, took to the streets on Thursday (17th July), generously volunteering their time for 18 local charities and organisations as part of the company’s annual ‘Mega Giveback’ initiative.
The initiative saw 20 teams disperse to various sites across Greater Manchester, engaging in both practical and guided activities in one afternoon:
- Cutting back footpaths, balsam bashing and litter picking on the Medlock Valley species survival project for Groundwork Greater Manchester whose work creates a greener, fairer and stronger future for all people, communities and places in Greater Manchester
- Removing hedges and clear space for new vegetation for Friends of Platt Fields who carry out conservation work to help restore the Shakespearean Garden
- Tending to areas around Fallowfield’s looking after trees and tree bases for community focused project, Clifton WEB tree-base planting
- Tending to the garden at the JustLife Centre who support people living in temporary accommodation in moving away from homelessness

- Helping sort and pack emergency food supplies at Longsight & Ardwick Food Bank – an independent food bank.
In addition to the volunteering effort, the bank also made donations worth £2,000 to support the charities on the day.
The Mega Giveback is more than a one-off effort. In 2024 alone, DF Capital employees have already contributed 2,800 volunteering hours, supported by the bank’s policy of providing every colleague with four paid days each year to volunteer.
One of the bank’s core commitments is to ‘Act Sustainably’ for its customers, communities, the environment, and employees, aiming to build a brighter future for all. This ongoing commitment to social responsibility reflects the bank’s values and highlights its dedication to being a responsible corporate citizen.
Carl D’Ammassa, CEO at DF Capital, commented:
“Our annual Mega Giveback initiative is one of the highlight events of the year and is a reflection of our values in action, aiming to support a wide range of causes across the Greater Manchester community. It’s inspiring to see the difference we can make with our collective effort for these amazing causes.”
